As the chill of winter fades and the first warm breezes of spring arrive, I find myself drawn to a new workspace—our terrace. It’s a simple shift, but one that changes the rhythm of my work-from-home days in the best way possible. Instead of being confined within four walls, I now have the option to step outside, bringing my laptop along to a setting that feels both refreshing and productive.
Our terrace wasn’t always the inviting retreat it is today. My husband built it from the ground up, pouring effort into every detail—from the carefully laid tiles underfoot to the roofing that now offers the perfect balance of shade and sunlight. I remember those days of construction well. They were long and exhausting for him, filled with heavy lifting and meticulous work. But now, as I sit here with my laptop open and a light breeze passing through, I know all that effort was worth it.
There’s something special about working in the fresh air. The usual hum of a computer and the occasional video call feel different when accompanied by the distant sounds of birds and rustling leaves. The peacefulness of this space makes concentration easier, and somehow, my thoughts seem clearer. Even the most routine tasks feel lighter when done under the open sky, with the warmth of the sun as a gentle companion.
One of the biggest advantages is that I get to enjoy these moments fully. On weekdays, my two-year-old daughter is at the Kita, which means these terrace work sessions are uninterrupted pockets of calm. No sudden toddler requests, no scattered toys demanding attention—just me, my work, and the serene surroundings. It’s a rare balance, one that I’ve come to cherish.
Of course, there are days when the sky is gray, or the wind is too strong, pushing me back indoors. But when the weather is just right, the terrace becomes the best office I could ask for. There’s no need for a fancy co-working space or a café with a scenic view when I have this little oasis right at home. The freedom to switch between indoor and outdoor workspaces is a small but powerful luxury, one that adds a refreshing rhythm to my days.
The beauty of spring is that it feels like a fresh start, a chance to embrace change in small but meaningful ways. Moving my workspace outside might seem like a simple decision, but it transforms the day in ways that go beyond just comfort. It’s about appreciating what’s already there—the effort that went into building this space, the peace it brings, and the quiet joy of working with the sun overhead.
As I type away, I glance up now and then to take it all in. The terrace my husband built with such dedication, the gentle shift in the seasons, the luxury of a quiet moment—these are the little things that make a day feel special. And as long as the weather allows, I’ll be here, working under the sky, savoring every moment of it.
