My Daughter’s First Tricycle Ride

Watching my two-year-old daughter ride her tricycle on her own for the first time made me incredibly happy today. It was such a simple moment, yet it felt so special. For the longest time, she had either been uninterested or too afraid to ride by herself. My husband and I had always been the ones pushing her along, hoping she’d eventually take to it. But today was different.

After work, she kept saying, “Outside!” with so much excitement that we couldn’t say no. The moment we stepped out, she went straight to her tricycle—not waiting for us to push her this time. She climbed on, placed her tiny feet on the pedals, and took off, laughing. When we reached a sloping road, she discovered an even more thrilling way to ride—letting the tricycle slide down while we ran frantically behind her, ready to catch her if she fell. She screamed in delight, her face full of pure joy, while my husband and I struggled to keep up, out of breath but laughing.

At one point, my husband, still catching his breath, chuckled and said, “I think she might be an adrenaline junkie.” Watching her fearlessly embrace something she once hesitated to do was both hilarious and heartwarming.

It’s moments like these—simple yet full of life—that remind me how much joy can be found in the everyday. Seeing her newfound confidence, hearing her laughter echo down the street, and feeling the warmth of the evening air as we chased after her—it was the best part of my day.
