During our one-month vacation in the Philippines, we had the chance to visit Tierra Alta in Valencia, Negros Oriental—a beautiful place known for its breathtaking views and serene atmosphere. Among its many attractions, one stood out for us: the glass walk. While for some, it might be just another tourist spot, for our little daughter, it became a playground of excitement and adventure.
Unlike me, who has always had a fear of heights, she was absolutely fearless. The transparent floor, high above the ground, didn’t faze her one bit. Instead of walking cautiously like most people (including me!), she ran across it with pure joy, her tiny feet moving quickly over the glass as if she was floating in the air. She even danced and twirled, giggling as if the height below didn’t exist.
We, on the other hand, were busy capturing her happiness on camera, trying to document every moment of her bravery. Watching her move so freely, with no hesitation or fear, was a sight to behold. It was a reminder of how children see the world differently—without the worries and anxieties that adults carry.
What made this moment even more special was the fact that she wasn’t feeling her best. She had been a bit unwell during our trip, and we were concerned about whether she’d have the energy to enjoy our adventures. But the moment she stepped onto that glass walk, everything changed. It was as if all discomfort disappeared, replaced by a newfound thrill and excitement. Seeing her so happy made us incredibly grateful—not just for this experience but for the reminder that joy can be found even in unexpected places.
As parents, we often try to guide and protect our children, but sometimes, they end up teaching us something instead. That day, our daughter taught us that fear is a choice, and sometimes, the best way to experience life is to let go and enjoy the moment. While I don’t think my fear of heights will disappear anytime soon, I will always remember the fearless little girl who danced above the glass, showing us what it means to live without fear.
It was a moment we’ll cherish forever, and I know we’ll look back on those photos with smiles and admiration for the incredible spirit our daughter has.
Would you ever try a glass walk? Or are you more like me, hesitant to take the first step?
