A Summer to Remember in Budapest

In July 2019, my husband and I set off on a six-day journey to Budapest, Hungary, turning both his birthday and our 12th anniversary into a celebration of discovery and relaxation. We chose the Radisson Blu as our base, where the stylish setting and exceptional service made us feel right at home. The warm summer air added a special touch to the vibrant city.

A highlight of our trip was the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, a stunning architectural gem. Surrounded by the historic yellow palace and the inviting blue waters, we relaxed in the thermal pools, experiencing the unique healing power that Budapest is known for.

For his birthday, we visited the Royal Castle atop Buda Hill. From there, we enjoyed breathtaking views of the Danube River, basking in the historic atmosphere. We celebrated among the ancient walls, feeling a connection to the rich history surrounding us.

We also sought quiet moments at the Budapest Inner-City Mother Church of the Blessed Virgin. Attending a peaceful service, we found solace in its beautiful, serene setting, offering us a chance to reflect on life and love.

One of the most romantic moments of our trip was a Danube River cruise in the late afternoon. As the sun set, the city’s lights shimmered, and the Parliament building stood proudly against the horizon. The gentle breeze made the moment feel even more magical as we celebrated together.

Our days in Budapest were filled with exploration. We wandered through the Great Market Hall, tasting local delicacies, and visited iconic landmarks like Fisherman’s Bastion and Heroes’ Square. Each stop was a new chapter in our adventure, enriched by the city’s deep history and summer charm.

By the end of our six-day stay, Budapest had given us more than just a memorable birthday and anniversary. The city’s beauty and warmth, combined with our shared experiences, left us with cherished memories and a stronger bond. We left not only with souvenirs but with a deep love for the city and each other, carrying its magic with us long after we left.
