My Postpartum Weight Loss Journey: How I Lost 10 Kilos in 7 Months

I never thought I could do it. Losing weight after giving birth felt like an impossible task. My body had changed, and I wasn’t sure if I could ever return to my pre-pregnancy weight. Exercise was never my thing—except for walking, which I enjoyed. But I wasn’t the type to go to the gym or follow intense workout routines. And as for eating less? That felt just as challenging. I loved food, and the idea of restricting myself seemed too difficult.

For months, I felt stuck. I wanted to lose weight, but I wasn’t sure how. I saw other moms bounce back quickly, and I wondered if I was doing something wrong. I tried to make small changes, but nothing seemed to work. Then, in June, I stumbled upon intermittent fasting. It was a concept I had heard about before but never really considered. The idea of not eating for long periods sounded intimidating, but I decided to give it a try.

I activated a tracker to help me stay on track and committed to fasting between 4 PM and 7 AM. At first, it wasn’t easy. My biggest challenge wasn’t snacking—it was my large dinner portions. Since my husband worked long hours and I spent the day taking care of our daughter, dinner was the only time we could sit down for a proper meal together. It became our main meal of the day, and I often ate more than I needed.

I quickly realized that while intermittent fasting helped, I also had to be mindful of how much I ate during my eating window. If I consumed too much, the fasting wouldn’t be as effective. So, I made adjustments. Instead of drastically reducing my portion size, I started making small changes—adding more vegetables, reducing carbs slightly, and eating until I was satisfied rather than overly full.

By October, I saw the result I had been hoping for—I had lost 10 kilos and was back to my pre-pregnancy weight. It felt surreal. Something that once seemed impossible had become my reality. And the best part? I did it in a way that felt sustainable. No extreme diets, no intense workouts—just a method that worked for my lifestyle.

Looking back, I’m so glad I took that first step. Losing weight after pregnancy isn’t just about appearance—it’s about feeling good, having energy, and being comfortable in your own body again. If you’re on your own postpartum weight loss journey, know that it’s possible. Everyone’s body is different, and what works for one person might not work for another. The key is to find something that fits your lifestyle and feels manageable. For me, it was intermittent fasting and being more mindful of my portions.

What about you? Have you tried intermittent fasting or another method to lose weight? I’d love to hear about your experience!
